Kilometers Release: “Better Off”
Kilometers is the fireside solo project we have been long awaiting from singer/songwriter Connor Waage (The Most). Restoring and breathing life into songs that had been sitting dormant from old college files at SUNY Purchase, or in James Palko’s voice memos, all came together in an apartment in Astoria, Queens where “Hear Thy Neighbor” was officially born.
If you have been following the musician, you know that “Better Off” is one of the many songs stuck in your head after seeing Kilometers live, (hey 2015- how ya been?). The immediately catchy, easy on the heart songs have fully embraced apartment recording, and welcomed in what usually would be taboo, including the sounds of daily life; Tenants moving around, airplanes flying overhead all encompasses what Waage describes as the “spontaneous monotony of daily life.” These sounds, mixed with comforting harmonies, bopping rhythm guitar and Connors raspy and warm vocals creates the sound of Kilometers. With that being said, I am eager to hear the rest.
Waage calls this the “not-so” solo project, giving adequate credit and acknowledgment to all the hands that went into this record.
Keep your eyes peeled for the record, “Hear Thy Neighbor” (which you may literally be able to do) that comes out March 19, 2021. Rest assured, you will be able to find it here.
The album was produced and engineered by James Palko, mixed by Michael Turnwall and mastered by Heather Jones & So Big Records.
