Robert Xavier Newman releases his first EP this Friday, October 30th. I imagine it’s what a hug sounds like, with good vibes and Robert’s exquisite musicality. It has the fullness of a musical (such as Benjamin Scheuers' The Lion) and the eccentric beauty of a fully finished album. The EP has new songs and oldies (but goodies) coming to a close with a live piece.

Sneak Peak the playful “Take a Picture of Me.“ A fan favorite, this driving rock song mixes poppy violin and octave playing creating a lighthearted hit.

I’m really glad Robert included a live piece. Not only is it a great contrast musically, it shows how talented he really is. He can do all of this LIVE. His voice, full of dialogue, speak-sing moments, and full on melodic belting moments. His live instrumentation feels almost theateresque as it’s a full piece of art. We follow his story and cling on to each word.

Oldies: Pluto (A classic and favorite of mine). See review here.

FFO: Mountain Goats, Elephant Revival
